The 2.5T engine uses a Bosch MED 17 ECU for engine management. Stage 1+ Requires Intercooler and Intake Upgrades APR World Class Calibration Expertise Tuning 101: Upgrading the small factory intercooler is highly recommended on this platform.ĪPR Stage 1 is available for 95 RON, 98 RON, 102 RON, 104 RON, and 108 RON fuel grades. Make special note of the differences between tunes, and use this as a basis of study. If you stick with the plan, you upgrade in stages, flash the corresponding tune, and then go off to understand how the new tune works. Most of the parts are Cobb sourced, but they do allow for some popular non-Cobb parts in this set tunes as well. I also strongly recommend you buy a Wideband O2 (AEM digital UEGO is popular) that you can integrate to AP.Ĭobb gives you a short road map (staged) set of reasonable upgrade ideas, and AP includes the corresponding tune that takes advantage of said parts. So, for a little more than the price of one custom tune, you get a number of reasonably safe well tested tunes, plus you get a conveniently sized logging, monitoring, guage-like gizmo. My suggested gateway is to buy an off the shelf tune (Access Port V3 aka AP) from Cobb. Better to search, learn and ask before going for more. Get fancy and greedy with your car, and the complications and problems mount quickly. Keep the mods reasonable and light, the tune basic, and you'll realize there's no magic involved. You don't have to go off into a cave and learn to tune from scratch, especially with this car. Start slow, don't get greedy and you can do it fairly easily. Learn how to take care of your car *and* its tune. ![]() First, accept that you will have to be your own warranty. In all seriousness here's my advise if you still want to self tune your car.
